The American revolution took place because American colonists wanted freedom from British persecution. The Americans were angry that the British taxed them for all the expenses of the war between them and the French. The British even taxed paper items and tea when colonists bought them as well as set many other small laws and impositions. After many years the Americans, after starting and winning a revolutionary war, did succeed in separating themselves from the British by becoming an independent country.
Has This Revolution Impacted The World?
The American revolution had a great impact on the world, especially for the American colonies. Before the revolution America was entirely controlled by Britain, but afterwards they became their own nation, elected their first president, and a thriving new country began. If America was still a colony of Britain, there is a possibility that thousands of things that American culture has influenced upon society would not exist. Currently, America leads the world in technology, economy, film, military and education. It also has a First World trade profile, meaning it exports many products. Furthermore, some believe that the American Revolution inspired the French revolution, so there is a chance that despotism and monarchy could still be a part of today's society. If the American Revolution had not happened, the colonists may still have become successful as part of Britain, but the American colonies may not have become as independently powerful as to trump the world today in nearly every field like independent America.
